Bloomington Anarchist Collective

The fictional front group “Bloomington Anarchist Collective” has a new blog. It has a new blog because it desperately needs to do damage control in the wake of Thomas Buhl’s successful demonstration in defense of White American heritage. It must be disorienting and frustrating to botch a project so badly you have the local media pretty much turn on you in favor of an out-n-out “racist”.

Media Bias

The way the self-styled “anti-fascists” would like to spin it, this is all the more proof of the right-wing “racist” bias of the media. They don’t actually believe that, though. What they believe, if you read between the lines, is that the local media turned on them because their violent tactics backfired disastrously.

Dawn Hewitt, The Herald-Times “journalist”on the scene was furious at our constant interruption of her attempts to interview Buhls. We believe that this was initially one of the primary motives for the biased coverage of the event.

Yup, being physically terrorized by a braying mob of unshowered and unchivalrous scumbags has a way of negatively coloring your take on things. This braying mob was not merely lost in the moment or driven to madness by an alternative perspective: it was following official antifa policy:

BAC agrees with most anti-racist and antifascist groups that denying hate groups a platform from which to publicly organize is the best strategy.

Part of the strategy of “no platform” entails making sure that no usable media footage is obtained from hate groups when they rally in public.

The whole “No Platform” thing is not only intuitively offensive to anybody who’s open-minded or honors the First Amendment right to free expression, it’s out-dated. This isn’t the 80′s, anymore. You can’t just decide what does and does not get past the mainstream media filter. As this event demonstrated, one lonely guy armed only with courage, a cardboard sign, and a message that’s worthy of public discussion can instigate that public discussion. The local and national media alike are simply too endangered by alternative media to risk losing their readership to the blogs, webzines, and other outlets which are willing to report these sorts of things. The fruity little boycott the antifa is threatening is nothing compared to the existential threat they face if they heed the advice to ignore major news events.

There’s nothing mystifying or conspiratorial about local media bias. In order to stay in business, they have to maintain a political position which is palatable to their target audience of ordinary literate community-minded Hoosiers. They have to maintain a political position which won’t get them into too much trouble with their advertisers. Often, they’re owned by a larger national or multinational corporation which exerts its own subtle pressure…generally leftward pressure. And finally, after all that’s accounted for, the journalists and editors have their own biases which they picked up from their families, churches, colleges, or perhaps even critically thinking.

As much as it would make my day for the local media to be biased in favor of actual Hoosiers, that’s not what’s going on here. The Herald-Times is covering the story because racial issues sell and because the antifa made a willful and deliberate decision to harass and intimidate one of their own. The only group successfully conspiring to make the antifa look bad to the public are the antifa.

Hate and Violence

The reason the Bloomington Anarchist Collective website was created yesterday is because their other websites, blogs, Facebook fan pages, and twitter accounts regularly promote violence, engage in intimidation, gloat about committing felonies, and listen to unbearably amateurish music. Their site’s logo even prominently features baseball bats.

The Bloomington antifa’s new family-friendly and violence-free posture looks and feels a bit unnatural. In fact, protestations that they not only abide the law but even respect it are followed within the very same sentence by their respect for the decision of “other groups” to commit felony assault.

Although we in the Bloomington Anarchist Collective would never do anything that was against the law (which we have the utmost respect for), we respect other group’s right to employ a diversity of tactics in the fight against hate groups and organized racism.

Then the mask slips, and B.A.C. accidentally admits that it’s the group of people who attacked Mr. Buhls…

While some may disagree with the use of violence (even within our own collective) we did try to make sure that the only message Thomas Buhls was able to convey was…

This is my law-abiding hand.

Whoops! In summary, ”Our group is totally anti-violence except when we call ourselves a different group and engage in violence, which our anti-violent sock puppet selves have the utmost respect for.”

For the great swath of curious bystanders who are neither committed to the far left nor the far right, these back-and-forth accusations of violent intentions and low character flying back and forth seem easy enough to resolve: both sides are violent extremists. This article accurately reports that Bloomington has been the target of “White Supremacist” hate crimes in the past.

There are indeed petty criminals and major terrorists who’ve promoted a message which is superficially similar to the message promoted by Hoosier Nation. But that doesn’t invalidate our message or prove that we’re terrorists. After all, violence has recently been dished out by those who are angry about federal taxation, those who are angry about animals being mistreated, those who are in favor of democracy, and those who are opposed to democracy. Even the anti-technology crowd has racked up its share of innocent people it’s killed or maimed.

How can you know we don’t secretly plan to hurt people? You can only guess, but you have the tools available to make an educated guess. We operate under our real names, the same names we take our kids to choir practice with. We’ve been operating in Indiana for years, with only one single incident of violence associated with our group: the Bloomington antifa threw a brick through the window of the MCL Cafeteria we had been using as a monthly meetup location. I have written and spoken publicly extensively over the past few years, and have never endorsed or promoted violence as a way to spread our message or silence those we disagree with. The anonymous author of the B.A.C. website can’t even get through an entire sentence denouncing violence without admitting that he supports violence, while I’ve managed to pull it off for years.

They attempt to use the “Kevin Bacon Game” of guilt by association with individuals who’ve been associated with individuals who’ve been associated with groups which have been associated with violence. But none of it pans out. The A3P is not a front for skinheads. If it’s guilty of anything, it’s guilty of being top-heavy with professors, international diplomats, attorneys, and intellectuals. Furthermore, the Bloomington antifas are trying to have it both ways, embracing and collaborating with a faction of skinheads who call themselves “SHARP”. So they embrace that gritty blue-collar subculture on the precondition that they’re SkinHeads Against Racial Prejudice. Unlike the Bloomington antifa cells, Hoosier Nation hosts only family-friendly workshops, workshops which disallow talk of violence, usage of racial epithets, and even foul language.

As for Thomas Buhls’ association with “the klan”, Hoosier Nation isn’t a klan group. I’ve written an entire book explaining why I believe Indiana’s heritage and identity is distinct from the Southern and Confederate heritage. While this charge doesn’t apply to Hoosier Nation, it does apparently apply to Mr. Buhls. He’s personally assured me that he renounces violence and is an accomplished, well-mannered, and eloquent spokesperson for White American heritage and identity. While I’m not endorsing this or any other “klan”, the group he’s associated with is all about family values, heritage celebration, and patriotism. Other groups in the past have called themselves “the klan” and talked about those things while wearing masks and intimidating innocent people. In this case, Pastor Robb’s group has been around for decades without inciting or performing any violence. In a peculiar twist on what we all learned in high school history class, they’re the ones being attacked by masked vigilantes with a racial score to settle.

Conclusion

In the beginning of the article, the author argues that even if you don’t support his group, you should be opposed to our group. He even coins an expression…

If Satan himself were to tell me that my zipper was down, I’d still zip it up.

First, I would take a quick glance to confirm that my zipper’s actually down. That’s all we’re asking for people to do: take a quick glance to check whether we’re actually violent extremists hellbent on harming innocent people. The “Bloomington Anarchist Collective” is using that claim as an excuse to instigate violence against us, against employees and elderly diners at restaurants we meet at, and even at bridges in Ohio that innocent people drive across. Just last week, Douglas Wright, a member of the Bloomington Anarchist Collective was caught trying to blow up a bridge by the FBI. There’s no excuse for violence against innocent people. There’s not even an excuse for violence against political activists who disagree with you. Stop using the imaginary threat of Hoosier Nation committing violence as an excuse for your violent outbursts.

Dawn Hewitt of the Herald Times in Bloomington, Indiana has reported on a unique Indiana University Alumni Club which promotes the interests and well-being of one distinct racial group. Chartered in 1981, the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club explicitly serves the interests of African-American students at Indiana University. Among other goals, the Neal-Marshal Alumni Club works specifically to bring African-American students together in greater unity, award scholarships to African-American students, and maximize success opportunities. More specifically, the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club seeks to, “… address the need for cohesiveness among African-American graduates of IU, who can both network with each other for common causes and facilitate and encourage enrollment of black students at IU…” It should be quite obvious that the Neal-Marshal Alumni Club loves, respects, and celebrates African heritage and unity.

I know what you’re thinking, so let me head it off at the pass… I think it is great that the African community is able to exercise self-determination and work towards improving the condition of their community. Self determination is a concept which is a core tenet of my personal convictions. In fact, it is something which I work try very hard to promote in every day life to improve the well-being, morale, and self-image of White people everywhere.

I suppose it would be more than a little bit childish to point out the age old axiom which states that “what is good for the goose is good for the gander” and pitch a tirade about double standards– or would it? However, we’re not really talking about double standards because this would imply that two separate groups are allowed enjoyment of similar privileges and rights in a segregated fashion.

On April 7th, 2012 there was a heritage celebration in downtown Bloomington, Indiana. This celebration was advertised as “Rally for Heritage!” The organizer and promoter of this event (yours truly…) invited the citizens of Bloomington to come out for a celebration of Southern and Confederate heritage. The message was very simple, and quite clear, “Celebrate your White heritage, be proud of your White identity!”

Imagine my surprise when I was met with great opposition by members of the Anti-Fascist (AntiFa) and LGBTQ communities. What could be more innocuous than a message of love and celebration? Jeering cries of racist, Nazi, KKK, and “go kill yourself!” seemed to be the extent of the intellectual capacity of the crowd. At its height, the crowd was an estimated 200 diversity-loving liberals intent on venting their distaste for White unity, celebration of White identity, and seeking to prevent me from networking with other proud White people. If these goals sound familiar, it is because these are the same goals which the Neal-Marshal Alumni Club embraces for African-American students.

I was spit upon, shouted down, pushed around, stolen from, and physically assaulted for sharing a message of love. Somehow this sort of behavior just doesn’t match up with the democratic ideals of peace, love, social equality, and equal protection under the law. The mob of multicultural loving liberals worked very aggressively in an attempt to silence my message and were determined to tell me that I am not allowed to celebrate my heritage, identity, or share a message of love.

Indiana University and the City of Bloomington are very proud of the many ways that the city has worked towards an all-inclusive, racially blind city. Have you ever watched a child proudly display and brag about a failing grade on a school assignment? I think you get the idea… Racial equality, and all-inclusive policies in Bloomington only really exist on paper. Don’t believe me? Go downtown and try to tell everyone you are proud to be White.

I’m starting to get carried away now. Let’s stay on topic. What were we talking about again? Lets see, we’re not talking about double standards. In fact, I think we are talking about systematic and organized oppression. Yes, that must be it. This is most certainly not a case of double standards because I wasn’t permitted to celebrate my heritage, identity, or share a message of love. Let’s not take this out of context and just call it what it really is… Hatred of the White man.
