I've been working on a theological project of updating Thomas Jefferson's "Jefferson Bible" with a contemporary translation and converting that into the most accessible and readable format possible.  This translation, the American Basic Christian Gospels, is a great introduction to Christ's message for those who are allergic to the confusing dialect of the KJV, those who are inclined to dismiss Christ's message because they can't see past the miracles, and those who seek a more direct exposition of Christ's teachings as a moral philosopher.
