Chapter 5: Europeans and Americans

All races are unique and part of the wonderful diversity of mankind, and all ethnic groups understandably have pride in their heritage and ancestors. Having this sense of “roots” is beneficial for our psychological health, allowing us to draw upon the past as a source of pride, inspiration, and sustenance. However, in the media today, we see European history, culture and heritage increasingly under attack while our European ancestors, the “dead White males”, are bombarded with criticism.
European Americans are taught that they have a past that consists mainly of exploitation, victimization and genocide. Famous feminist and author Susan Sontag captured this sentiment well when she declared, “the White race is the cancer of history”. It is no wonder that studies indicate Whites have found it difficult to connect to their cultural roots. This leaves us with an important question: is there in fact a European heritage to be proud of? To answer this question, it is useful to briefly review the history of our unique ethnic group.
